Week 79: La Fe: Amoebas

Well family, there isn’t much to write this week. On Sunday we had a very good day, but my comp said he felt a bit sick and later in the week we discovered that he has amoebas, which basically means that this whole week he hasn’t been able to leave more than a 100 yards from a bathroom... So we have been stuck in the house, apart from the most important appointments, and I’ve been in the house reading the Book of Mormon! I’m now almost finishing! So now I just need to find someone to give it away to.

This week has been so, so boring- I can’t even tell you! But that’s all right because my comp is feeling better so we are going to go crazy this week and visit tons of people! And ask for lots of references so that we can get more people to teach.

Luckily, even though we haven’t been able to teach much, we did have 5 investigators come to church. One of which is named E and she is progressing a lot towards baptism. She was able to go to the baptism of one of her nieces and she loved it and now has a huge desire to get baptized! So she should be getting baptized soon.

The house in this area is pretty lame. It’s always dirty and it only has 2 windows so it’s basically an oven during the nighttime and it’s hard to sleep at night! We also caught another mouse! It’s pretty gross, but we have since then gotten more rat traps and lots of roach killer, so hopefully the house will look nicer this week :)

Well just so you all know I’m doing well and can’t wait to see you all.

Love,

Elder Stark

Week 78: La Fe: Crossing the line in a new area

Hey everyone,

So this week has been interesting with the changes. I am now in the area of La Fe. It’s always interesting changing areas because you have to introduce yourself to new people and figure out how to help the area. But first, one of the down sides to this area is the house... it is a terrible house. It has 24-hour light, but not water. Which really sucks!!! And then there are exactly 3 windows in the whole house, so it’s basically an oven! And at night I sweat like a pig! Hahaha. It’s always an interesting experience sleeping sweaty, haha.

As for my companion his name is Elder V from Saint George, Utah and he is a funny guy. He is almost exactly like my CCM comp, which is interesting because I didn’t really get along with my CCM comp. But I feel as though I’ve changed and am now able to get along with people better and we get along just fine! He is a big guy and is really in to football and jazz band and stuff like that.

The area of La Fe has kind of a week ward, but we have some very good investigators and its about to start progressing like crazy because we are working very hard. This area is very capital with lots of crazy alleyways and stuff hahah. It’s awesome ,but a bit dangerous. The girls here are very flirty and get kind of annoying. We taught an English class and a girl was just staring at me the whole time and I was getting really creped out. Then at the end of the class she asked me if she could ask a question without crossing the line and I was like,, uhhh I don’t know. And that she asked me to be her boyfriend! I told her, ahhh ya se paso, which is like yeah you just passed yourself. I then went on to tell her about our purpose as missionaries and invited her to learn about the gospel from the other elders. Hahaha, it was a funny story we were all laughing about it at lunch!

Also in my district here there is an elder from Eagle, Idaho! His name is Elder Sp M. He's pretty cool. I’ll get some pictures with him so that maybe you could find his family. He knows Anna Schriever and Sam as well because they went to high school together.

But yeah, so things are going pretty well!  I love you all and hope you have a great week. Huge shout out to Owen as well for the Tonga call!!!!

Love,

Elder Stark

Week 77: Herrera: Transfers and Owen's mission call

This was the email exchange we had today, rather than a full letter:

Bailey: hey I’m on line if you can chat. I’d really like to hear where Owen will be going if you can tell me today.

Btw, I’m getting transferred to an area called La Fe, or the faith. I’m really excited.

Mom: I'm so excited that you get to go to a new area. Where is it? Is it in the country or near Santo Domingo? We are about 30 minutes from Wallowa Lake where Owen can open his call.

Bailey: It’s right in the middle of Santo Domingo. I don’t know much more than that. Oh, but I will be in the same district as Elder E, the one that was with me in Manoguyabo. Also, I’m sending a bunch of photos today.

Mom: Yeah about the photos!!! I love them! Also do you know who your comp will be?

Bailey: It’s a guy named Elder V. He’s an American with 10 months in the mission. Did you see the photo where I’m cooking on the floor! Classic!!!

Mom: I just saw it! Awesome.

Bailey: Yeah, so how is everything back home? How are Jake and Anndi? When is the wedding again?

Mom: Everyone is doing really well. The wedding is July 1. On Saturday we are going through the temple with Anndi in Bountiful.

Bailey: That’s going to be a really great experience. Haha, I really love the temple!

Jake: Hey Bailey, hope you're doing well. Right now I'm at work so I don't have any time to send an email or anything. But all is going well here. We're very excited to get Owen's mission call, and Anndi will get her endowments on Saturday. Very exciting!

Bailey: That’s awesome man. Yeah, I’m really excited to hear about all that. That will be a great experience for you to see Anndi go through to get her endownments.

Jake: Owen got called to Tonga!!!!!!!

Mom: Tonga Nuku’alofa. He leaves October 7.

Bailey: Wowowoowow!!!!! That’s sooo awesome!!!!! He will be a great missionary there!!!!! Wow, I’m so excited that is such a cool mission call. I hope he is super excited!!!! Well now I got to go. Thanks so much for letting me know. I love you all and give a huge hug to Owen for me!

Jake: Super awesome!!!!!

Maybe this is why the power is unreliable
